A novel approach to chip design optimization using quantum computers was presented at the DAC, The Chips to Systems Conference 2025 in San Francisco – the premier event for the chip design tools ecosystem.
We demonstrated the exciting potential where quantum computing meets EDA, revealing a 10x performance improvement in standard cell placement algorithms compared to classical methods in real-world use cases.
This work is the result of a successful partnership between Von Braun Labs, ChipInventor, NtropiQ, and Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar). Rafael Aroca (Von Braun Labs Innovation Manager), Prof. Celso Villas-Boas (UFSCar) joined Dario Sassi Thober (Von Braun Labs president) in presenting the results at the Special Session Materials to Systems Design Automation for Advanced Chips.
